Jackson Bowley

Project 1: Twist What You Know

In this series, three creatives worked together to reimagine a look book for Converse latest pair of shoes.

Project 2: Xerox - Personal Project

A project, where Jackson Bowley wanted to blur portraiture and beauty photography to create, more raw, interesting and diverse images.

Project 3: Orlando Weeks Press Shots

A series of unique press shots for the musician Orlando Weeks upcoming album.

Project 1: Twist What You Know

The main idea for this project was to incorporate body paint into a majority of the shots to create unique images that stand out against usual footwear shoots, for example, using body paint on the models legs and doing full makeup face paint looks to create colourful, bold and playful imagery.

Project 2: Xerox - Personal Project

The main reasoning behind this project was to create interesting and unique new imagery that challenged traditional tropes of beauty photography, and creating a body of work that blurred the lines of beauty photography and portraiture.

Project 3: Orlando Weeks Press Shots

I wanted this series of images to reflect Orlando’s artistic style as best they could and feel personalised to his ‘brand’. Orlando works a lot with mixed media and collage outside of his music, and and by introducing these methods into the press shots, I felt like we were able to create very unique images, that feel very exclusive to Orlando.

Project 2: Xerox - Personal Project

The name for this project comes from the printing technique used to treat the final images. Using Xerox photocopiers to print and scan the final images to create a more timeless finish and something that felt a bit more raw in contrast to the usual glossy quality found in traditional beauty imagery.

Project 3: Orlando Weeks Press Shots

Combining photography and illustration to create a set of images that felt unique and personal to Orlandos album. And through using a mixture of different printing techniques, such as risograph and laser jet printers.

Project 1: Twist What You Know

For this project, Converse London asked three separate creatives to reimagine a look book for their latest pair of shoes, ‘Twist What You Know to Create What You Don’t’ was the overarching brief. Working closely with makeup artist Phoebe Walters, we looked at how we could incorporate makeup and body painting to help elevate the products whilst also creating an interesting and versatile look book that would not traditional be affiliated with foot wear. We wanted to push and challenge what a usual footwear company would produce and how we could incorporate makeup and body paint in an interesting way.

Project 2: Xerox - Personal Project

XEROX is a personal project I began due to, what I though to be a lack of variety found within beauty photography. Traditional beauty photography, to me, has always carried itself a little bit too seriously and struggled with diversity. For Xerox I wanted to blur portraiture and beauty photography to create, more raw, interesting and diverse images. Casting was always at the forefront of this project, including a diverse and interesting mix of people. As was a focus on non-traditional makeup looks.

Project 3: Orlando Weeks Press Shots

Working closely with musician Orlando Weeks, we set out to create a set of unique press shots for his upcoming album release. Playing with perspective and scale and introducing Orlandos illustration work allowing for the images to feel idiosyncratic to Orlando’s album.
