ADCN’s FAQ section provides answers to our entrants most frequently asked questions. From the type of work that is eligible to judging criteria and everything in between, we’ve got what you’re looking for. And if we don’t, please get in touch with the ADCN Awards Team!


Who can enter?
Companies and freelancers based in the Netherlands. You don’t need to be a member of ADCN.

Can I enter work if the concept was developed before January 2017?
Yes, as long as you enter work that has been commercially released between 1 January 2017 and 1 February 2018.

What does “created or crafted in the Netherlands” mean?
This means that the work should be created or crafted by a company / freelancer based in the Netherlands (according to Chamber of Commerce). This does not exclude the possibility of it having been published abroad.

E.g. Work (ideas) in advertising and design originally created by agency X in the Netherlands for brand Y in France can be entered. Craft created/produced by company/creative X in the Netherlands for agency Y in Germany can be entered. Work created by agency X based in the UK for brand Y based in the Netherlands cannot be entered.

Can I enter work that was my own initiative, without any client brief?
You can not enter this work, since work needs to be produced in response to a genuine brief from a client and needs to be approved and paid for by the client. However, if your work suits the category Next – Experimental, you can enter in this category. See Entry Guide for more information.

Can I enter work done for free for a charity?
Yes, work done by an agency pro-bono for a charity can be entered if the work has been approved to run by the charity.

Can two companies enter the same work?
Two different entrants cannot enter the same work in the same category. If your work was created/produced in a collaboration between multiple agencies/companies, check and align with your partners who will enter the work. In case of duplicate entries, we will only accept the entry that was paid first or we will ask you to agree who will be the main entrant. If you wish multiple agencies to be credited for the work, you can enter their names in the ‘agency’ field in the credit form.

Can I enter work if I am the client?
Yes, clients can enter work produced for them either internally or by an external agency (as long as it has not been entered by the external agency in the same category – see previous question).

Can I enter self-promotional work?
Yes, you can enter self-promotional work (for example corporate identity for your own company), but only if it was released commercially and made available to potential customers. This excludes reels and portfolios. Be sure it is not visible who created the work, this way the work can be judged anonymously.


When will entries close?
Enter your work before 25 January 2018, 18h. Entries received after 25 January will incur a 25% surcharge. Final extended deadline will be 1st of February 2018, 18h. It is not possible to enter work after the final extended deadline. Only entries that have been completed and paid in time for will be accepted.

When is the deadline to deliver my physical entry materials?
Physical entry materials have to reach ADCN by 1 February 2018.


What categories can I enter?
Check the categories and their definitions in the Entry Guide 2018.

How many categories can I enter?
You can enter the same work into as many categories as you like, both as a single entry and as part of a campaign.


What is the difference between single and campaign?
Single is one execution of creative work that is entered and judged in isolation. If you are entering multiple executions, for example, an advertising campaign or a range of package designs, that you want to be judged altogether, then choose ‘campaign’.


How much does it cost to enter?
Fees for all categories – exclusive of 21% VAT:
• Single entry: €249,-
• Campaign entry: €399,-
• Talent: Free entry

* Entries received after 25 January 2018 will incur a 25% surcharge.

Can I get a discount on entries?
ADCN offers a 50% discount on entry fees to entrants who are either freelancers, agencies younger than one year or with less than 3 people staff. Find discount codes in the Entry Guide 2018

Where does the money I spend on my entries go?
As a non-profit organization, ADCN uses all of its surplus revenues to invest in the development of creative professionals and Dutch creativity through educational programs. The entry fees are used to manage the awards program.


How can I register?
Visit adcn.awardsplatform.com and register, or login with your account from last year.
When you register an account you’ll receive an email to confirm your registration.
After completing your registration by clicking on the sent link, scroll down and start a new entry.

I have not received an activation email.

How do I prepare my work for entering?
Download the Entry Guide. Make sure the files you want to enter comply with the file specifications in the Entry Guide.

What to do if names of the creators appear in the work I enter?
Please remove any names, logos or branding of people or agencies involved in the creation of the work anywhere in your entered work, or in file names. If names appear in any deliverables, we will ask you to re-submit them. This is to ensure that work is judged anonymously and fairly.

How do I enter self-promotional work anonymously?
No need to remove your logo/branding, just make sure it is not visible who created the work in deliverables and supporting information.


Do I have to enter credits for the work e.g. Art Director, Designer, etc.?
Yes, you need to fill out the complete credits sections. Include as much information as possible about your work and the individual and company credits. Be secure, as the credits you enter will be final!

What supporting information is needed for my entries?
This is detailed in the Entry Guide under ‘Supporting Information’. There will be a field to enter your supporting information once you create your entries online.

Do I have to supply the supporting information requested?
What you say about your work will help judges understand its background and context, so we do recommend you supply supporting information.

How should I write my supporting information?
Make it as clear, concise and straight-to-the point as possible. Don’t forget to enter all information in English as there are international jury members.

Do I need to provide translations?
Yes, if your work was not originally released in English in the category Advertising – Film & Video translations are mandatory. In other categories we highly recommend translations, as some of the jury member will be international. We only accept translations to be given on the online entry form not as a separate document or film (subtitles are allowed). Please note that translations in the Copywriting Craft category are not necessary.


What methods of payment are accepted?
We accept two types of payment: Credit card and payment by invoice. You can choose your way of payment online when you complete your entry. Unfortunately, payment via IDEAL is not possible. Please contact the ADCN Awards team for all questions about payment.

Where can I find ADCN’s bank details?
These will be on your invoice.

Where can I find my invoice?
You can download your invoice after completing your entry and in the email with the subject “Payment received” we will send to you.

Can I create a new entry when I already paid for other entries?
Yes, you can enter work until the final extended deadline (1 February 2018). Only entries that have been completed and paid for will be accepted.


When is the deadline to post my physical entry materials?
Physical entry materials have to reach ADCN by 1 February 2018

How many copies of physical work do I need to send?
For physical work, provide one copy for each category the work is entered into, since the work will be judged by different juries.

How do I label my entries for posting?
Always include the entry form (to be downloaded from adcn.awardsplatform.com “My Entries”).

What address do I send my entries to?
Physical entry material may be submitted on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to the ADCN offices: Club ADCN, Polonceaukade 17, 1014 DA AMSTERDAM.

How will I know if my package has arrived?
We won’t notify you when we receive your package. We will only get in touch if your package doesn’t make it to our office.


Who will judge the ADCN Awards?
The professional jury appointed by ADCN’s board, together with the members jury, will decide which entries will be nominated and awarded.

What are the Judging Criteria?
In Advertising and Design, judges are asked to consider three things: In order of Importance:
• Is the idea original and inspiring?
• Is it exceptionally well executed?
• Is it relevant to its context?

In Craft categories, like Photography, work is judged primarily on the strength of the specific craft. The Grand Prix is awarded to the most ‘game changing’ and groundbreaking work that opens new doors, changes the world of communications and sparks new ways of thinking.


When will I know if my work is successful?
All nominated work will be announced on the Nomination Night, March 2018*.

If my entry wins, who will be credited as the winner?
In Advertising, Design and Next, the concept maker(s) will receive the award and will be announced as the winner. The project, the agency and the client will be mentioned in the credits. In the category Craft, the craft maker(s) will receive the award and will be announced as the winner. The project, the agency and the client will be mentioned in the credits. Make sure all credits are entered correctly in your entry form as these will be final.

What happens if my work is successful?
Nominated work will be reviewed by our top of the notch jury members and the creative community, exhibited during the Jury Festival and the Nomination Exposition and featured in ADCN’s online gallery. Winning work will receive a Lamp during the Awards Show and featured in national and international media and seen by the creative scene worldwide.
