What’s new in 2018

In 2018, ADCN will improve the awards program with the launch of a new digital gallery and archive, a new format for the Annual, as well as new events including an Expo, presenting all the nominated work, and inspiration and feedback events – with winners, clients and with the juries. All nominees will receive with digital badges and certificates. ADCN will launch one new category: Experimental in Next – for self-initiated projects by creative agencies and professionals.

1. Login with your account from last year or register at ADCN’s Awards Platform. When you register an account you’ll receive an email to confirm your registration. After completing your registration by clicking on the sent link, scroll down and start a new entry.

2. Prepare your entries by following the ADCN Awards 2018 Entry Guide

3. Log in, choose the right campaign and category, enter all details and credits correctly and upload your work. Enter Now.

Single entry per category: 249 euro ex VAT

Campaign/Series/Range entry per category: 399 euro ex VAT

Entries (and payments) received after 1st of February 2018 cannot be qualified for competition.

Discounts &  Special Fees

ADCN aims to be a platform for all creative disciplines and all creative companies, small and large. ADCN offers special rates for the following categories and companies:

50% Discount: Freelancers, New companies (younger than 1 year) and small companies (less than 3 people staff) receive 50% discount on all entries.

100% Discount: There is no entry fee for the Talent Category.

Where does your money go?

As a non-profit, ADCN takes all of its surplus revenues and invests them back into the creative industry through educational programs for professionals and talent, the development and promotion of creative talent and excellence.

Entry fees are used to manage and improve the ADCN Awards program – including the online entry and judging system, the judging days, the awards ceremony, communications with and support for entrants, the digital gallery, the ADCN Annual, and all PR efforts in the Netherlands and internationally, aimed to give your work and talent maximum exposure to the professional brand, media and creative community.

April 2017 ADCN presented the 50th edition of the ADCN Awards for Creativity and Craft in Advertising and Design at Royal Theatre Carré. During the ceremony, hosted by Dolores Leeuwin and with special performances by the Jeugd van Tegenwoordig and the Massive Late Night Show Band, 54 Lamps were awarded across Advertising, Design, Craft and Next categories. The juries awarded 6 Gold, 17 Silver and 30 Bronze Lamps.

J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam and partners won the Grand Prix with “The Next Rembrandt” for ING Nederland. “The Next Rembrandt” won gold awards in categories Next Technology and Advertising Digital & Social.

Other gold winners included “Zeeman Trouwjurk” by Persuade for Zeeman in category Advertising Integrated, “Welcome to the Wonderlands of Hercules Segers” by Part of a Bigger Plan for Rijksmuseum in Experience Design en “Het Gewoontedier” by Ambassadors for ASN Bank and Selmore Creative Agency in category Craft Animation & Motion Design.

Dawn won the first ADCN Impact Award (Gold) with “Buy the Change” for Triodos Bank.

Jury 2017

The ADCN Jury 2017 reflects the diversity and excellence of the Dutch creative industry as it is today. This year’s line-up included countless winners of ADCN Lamps, Dutch Design Awards and international creativity awards (e.g. Cannes Lions, D&AD Pencils, Webby Awards, European Design Awards, ADC Awards), experienced jury members from international creativity festivals (D&AD, Cannes Lions, FWA), Dutch top talent working abroad, and several ADCN Hall of Fame members.

Grand Prix 2017: The Next Rembrandt

J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam and partners won the Grand Prix 2017 with “The Next Rembrandt” for ING Nederland.

“The Next Rembrandt” is a 3D-printed painting born through the collaboration between J. Walter Thompson, ING, Microsoft, advisors from TU Delft, The Mauritshuis, the Rembrandt House Museum and production partners. Made solely from data derived from 346 known paintings by Rembrandt, “The Next Rembrandt” was created from a deep, 18-month analysis of his work. A facial-recognition algorithm learned Rembrandt’s techniques; pixel data helped the computer mimic brushstrokes; and an advanced 3D printer brought the painting to life using 13 layers of ink. The portrait consists of 148 million pixels and is based on 168,263 fragments from Rembrandt’s portfolio.
The jury reports for the “The Next Rembrandt” read: ‘Ticks all boxes of a groundbreaking piece of communication. A big idea. Culturally relevant. Pioneering and challenging. Stretching the mind. Blurring the lines between data, technology and art. Pushing the boundaries of data visualization. Embracing the combination of all creative disciplines. Does not feel like advertising. Shows how innovation pushes the work in our industry forward. Triggering conversations about how data and tech can affect our world. Taking a classic art form and making it relevant to a younger generation. Rewarding the brand for doing something so experimental without a clear ROI. Simply never been done before.’
